How to setup a Medical ID card on iOS 8
Imagine you are in a car wreck, or you just purchased an iPhone for your grandmother, or let’s say you have diabetes and are concerned because you have passed out in the past. Well now there is a great new feature if you purchased a new iPhone 6 or if you upgrade your current iPhone to iOS8. This new feature is called the Medical ID feature. Some may not have realized that iOS 8 has this amazing new feature and in this quick blog post I will explain how to quickly set it up.
1) Find the health app installed on your iPhone
a) The quickest way to do this is to swipe one finger down the middle of any screen and the spotlight search will popup.
b) Type in health
2) Open the Health app
(The medical ID portion will be in the lower right hand corner)
3) Now fill in the information you want viewable.
a) Make sure Show When Locked is enabled green
b) To edit and input more information just touch edit at the top right corner.
4) Now click done and check your work by locking your phone pushing the top button on the iPhone 5S and down or on the iPhone 6 the side button to lock your phone.
(In order for this to show right away you must have a passcode set, which is under settings app>Touch ID & Passcode>Set Require passcode to Immediately. If you do not have a passcode set this feature will not display on your lock screen)
5) Now help others do the same. This truly can save lives and paramedics, doctors, nurses and even military personnel are being trained on how to use this feature of iOS 8.
Hope this helps!
Blessings,
